                                  WARNING

Have you inspected your silo door system lately?

Failure to perform routine regular maintenance may cause a fall resulting in serious injury or death to you or your employees.

The highly corrosive environment present in a silo chute will result in the deterioration of wood, metal and concrete.

To ensure your safty, an annual inspection of your door system must include the following:

  • Concrete door frames for deterioration and physical damage (doors must seat properly in door frames for latch systems to work effectively).
  • Cast-in hinge eyes for tightness and corrosion.
  • Swing doorsteps for tightness of rivets and connectors.
  • Removable door steps for cracking or corrosion (All round bar style steps should be secured with 4 saddle clamps for utmost safty. Round bar steps with holes drilled through the bar should never be used without saddle clamps. Without saddle clamps, these steps can be prone to failure. Replace as needed).
  • Wood doors for rot and damage.
  • Latch and latch systems for corrosion and tightness.

Remember, you are ultimately responsible for safty on your farm and you, alone, must bare the liability for accidents.

Contact Sangers Silos for professional and complete silo maintenance.
